About
Forests in the southeastern United States are expected to be a large supplier to European Union (EU) wood pellet markets. As a Sustainable Bioenergy Markets panelist at North Carolina's 2015 State Energy Conference, Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions senior policy associate Christopher Galik will discuss how participation in those markets will affect forest inventories and carbon stores and whether EU sustainability guidelines for pellets can be met. Other panelists will discuss a variety of bioenergy feedstocks and research to reduce the financial costs of producing an end product from them while meeting sustainability requirements.
